Let’s talk colour: why we don’t offer exact colour matching

We’re often asked if our letterboxes and signs can be colour matched to fences, garage doors or paint colours.

Short answer: we don’t offer exact colour matching. Different materials, finishes and lighting mean colours will always look a little different in real life.

Why “the same colour” can look different

Even if two products are both called “white” or “charcoal”, they may not look identical side by side.

  • Different materials: powder-coated steel, PVC fencing, render, timber and acrylic all reflect light differently.
  • Different finishes: matte, satin and gloss sheens can make the same colour appear softer, darker or brighter.
  • Different conditions: sun, shade, cloudy days and surrounding surfaces all change how a colour reads.

Because of this, a white letterbox may look warmer than a glossy white fence, or a charcoal sign may not match a particular garage door exactly – and that’s normal.

Screens, previews and real life

What you see on a screen is always an approximation:

  • Colours are shown on a backlit device, not a physical product.
  • Every phone, tablet and monitor displays colour differently.
  • Mirror, metallic and textured finishes are especially hard to represent digitally.

We use real home photography wherever possible, but no photo or mock-up can guarantee how a colour will look at your place.

What we do (and don’t) promise

  • We do not offer custom colour matching to specific brands, codes or fence systems.
  • We do not guarantee an exact match to your existing fence, door or trims.

We also never advertise our products as being an exact colour match to any particular fence, paint brand or cladding system. Our photos and descriptions are about overall look and style, not precise colour matching.

Instead, we focus on:

  • Classic, architectural colours that pair well with common exterior materials
  • Durable powder-coat and acrylic finishes designed for outdoor use
  • Real install photos to show our colours in context

Tips for choosing your colour

  • Think contrast, not perfection: a slight contrast often looks more intentional than trying to match exactly.
  • Consider your materials: timber, brick, render and PVC all change how colours appear.
  • Check real photos: browse our gallery or Instagram to see colours on different homes.
  • Ask us: if you’re stuck between options, get in touch and we’ll share examples where we can.

Setting expectations

Because of all these variables, some variation between what you see online and what you see at home is expected and isn’t treated as a manufacturing fault.

We’ll always look into genuine issues with finish quality, but normal differences in tone or appearance between our products and other brands, materials or photos are part of how colour works in the real world.

If something looks very different to what you expected, please contact us — we’re always happy to review photos and talk through options.
